The Court Security and Transport Division of the Sheriff’s Office maintains security for the Lee County Justice Center including the circuit, district, probate, and family courts. Security responsibilities also include the offices of the Circuit Clerk and District Attorney as well as adult and juvenile probation and parole.
The deputies within this unit are trained in the safe transport of inmates, juvenile detainees, and mental health patients to ensure that the deputies and the individuals they are transporting reach their destination safely. During an average month the deputies assigned to this division may travel more than 6,000 miles to transport individuals to various facilities throughout the state of Alabama and the U.S., and they have even topped 8,000 miles on several occasions.
