School Resource Officers (SROs) are full-time Deputies assigned to work within the Lee County School System. Their mission is to help provide a safe learning environment for our children and school faculty/administration. The SROs work to stop violence in the schools and investigate those who engage in criminal activity.
All of our SROs are trained and certified through the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO). They receive training at both the Basic and Advance schools and are trained first responders in the event of an emergency.
SROs teach classes such as DUI awareness, gang awareness and drug awareness/resistance. Each summer, they are also in charge of the Junior Deputy Academy, giving area youth the opportunity to learn about the inner workings of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and the roles and responsibilities of Deputy Sheriffs.
Together with the Lee County School System staff and administration, the School Resource Officers are making a difference in our community one student at a time.
